Shui On Group, the lead investor and developer of Shanghai Xintiandi, takes the lead in the investment and development of the Hangzhou Xihu Tiandi project.

The Shui On Group was founded in Hong Kong in 1971 by group Chairman Mr. Vincent Hong Sui Lo. Mr Lo has built Shui On from a small construction company into a diversified group involved in property development, construction and contracting, construction materials and property investment with interests in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and North America. Through acquisitions and new start-ups, the Group now comprises more than 40 active subsidiaries and associated companies.

In 1997 the construction and construction materials businesses were grouped under Shui On Construction and Materials Limited (SOCAM), which was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in February of the same year. Today, SOCAM is engaged in five core businesses: quality housing development in the Chinese Mainland, cement, construction, construction materials and global materials trading.

The Shui On Group has a private arm, Shui On Properties Limited, which undertakes property development and investment as well as property management, sales and leasing. Shui On Properties expanded its business from Hong Kong into the Chinese Mainland as early as 1985 and has built up a sizable portfolio of property development and investment projects in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Guangzhou. As well as Shanghai Xintiandi and Hangzhou Xihu Tiandi, other major Shui On property development projects in the Chinese Mainland include Shui On Plaza and Rui Hong Xin Cheng, both located in Shanghai.
